Leather is naturally very hard-wearing, and requires little in the way of special care. What’s more, your JEB Leather goods are hand crafted to the highest standards of workmanship, so there’s every reason to expect they should last for many years.
'Breaking in' your JEB Leather goods
When you first receive your new JEB Leather product, you may find the leather quite stiff. This is normal with new leather products. Just like a new leather saddle, pair of boots or baseball glove need to be ‘broken in’, so too does your JEB Leather journal or guitar strap.
The best way to break in leather is with regular handling and use, which will help to make it supple. The natural oils in your skin will also help maintain the softness of the leather. So use your JEB Leather goods regularly, and you’ll find they remain beautifully soft to touch.
Keep out of direct sunlight
Because JEB Leather products are dyed, there is a chance the colour could fade if left in direct sunlight for too long. To avoid this, always store your JEB Leather goods out of direct sunlight.
Try to avoid contact with water
While a few splashes won’t hurt your JEB Leather goods (and some of our customers even swim and shower regularly with their JEB Leather bracelets) it’s best to try and keep them as dry as possible if you want to maximise their lifespan. If your JEB Leather product does get wet, just dry it in the shade.
Restoring your leather goods
If you find your JEB Leather product has dried out after not being used for some time, just treat it as if it were new and needed ‘breaking in’ again. If it’s really dry, you can buy a special leather conditioner from most shoe repair shops to restore the soft, supple feel. Just make sure you buy one that’s neutral, not coloured, as it will affect the colour of your dyed leather goods.
